Statement
As an avid maker and artist, my inspiration comes from self-reflection and self-reliance.
I find joy in processes that allow me to be experimental and chaotic, yet have the need for discipline and respect.
I use alternative and historical photographic processes such as collodion wet plate, cyanotype, film, caffenol and printmaking methods such as silkscreen and linoleum to bring these ideas to a visual conclusion.
My work revolves around the idea of relationships we have with objects, memories, people and trying to understand the complex undefinable emotions that come along with these connections.
What I create very autobiographical yet very universal. As humans we crave connection with people, places and objects. My work explores the need for these connections and how relationships affect us.
Bio
I am a maker focusing mainly on historical photographic processes and printmaking. The processes I find most gratifying to work with are in wet plate collodion, cyanotype, traditional darkroom processes along with working in printmaking processes such as silk-screen and intaglio.
I grew up in Midland, Michigan, and currently resides within the area with my daughter and the required studio cat. I received my Bachelors in Fine Arts from Central Michigan University in 2022. I started studying photography and printmaking in the early 2000’s. In 2015 I met my mentor, Rebecca Zeiss and fell down the rabbit hole of alternative photographic processes.
